Mount Semeru status raised to alert

Head of the Volcanic and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center 's or PVMBG volcano observation unit, Muhamad Hendrasto said his unit had recommended raising the status of Mount Semeru in East Java from 'normal' to 'alert' following increasing seismic activity.
Indonesia's economic growth probably exceeded 6 percent for a fifth quarter in the October-December period last year as domestic demand helped Southeast Asia's largest economy withstand the European debt turmoil that has hurt exports across Asia.
